Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect on Parental Compass, why, and how you can control it.
Last updated July 2026
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and (optionally) a display name.
- Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, and any preferences you tell us about (age range of your children, topics you care about).
- Usage data. Aggregated, pseudonymous analytics about the pages you visit — used to understand what content is useful.
- Affiliate click tracking. When you click a “Buy on Amazon” link we record the click (which book, which page) so we can measure how our recommendations perform. We do not receive your name, address, or purchase details from Amazon.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect children’s personal information. The site is designed for parents and educators.
- We do not sell your email address or share it with third parties for their marketing.
- We do not fingerprint your device across the web.
How we use your information
- To operate your account and send the newsletter you signed up for.
- To measure and improve which recommendations, collections, and guides work best.
- To detect abuse, fraud, and content-moderation issues.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Cookies & analytics
We use a small number of first-party cookies to keep you signed in and remember your reading preferences. We use a privacy-respecting analytics provider to aggregate page-view data. Google Ads, when shown, may set additional cookies as governed by Google’s advertising policies.
Third parties
We use a small number of vendors to run the site: hosting, email delivery, analytics, and payment processing (if you buy a premium subscription). Each vendor is bound by a data-processing agreement and only receives the data it needs.
Your rights
- You can access, correct, or delete your account data at any time from your account settings.
- You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with one click; every issue includes an unsubscribe link.
- If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights (access, portability, deletion, opt-out of sale — we don’t sell). Email us and we’ll honor them.
Children’s privacy
Parental Compass is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we make material changes we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, if the change is significant, notify newsletter subscribers by email.
